As a child Ramya loved to paint, read poems, and the likes of Shakespeare rather then delving into subjects like ‘Mathematics’ — well her gradual progression was towards Science : Daughter of General Physician father – and – Gynaecologist and Ophthalmologist mother- Ramya completed her studies of MBBS and became a Otorhinolaryngologist and Head -Neck Surgeon from (JIPMER) Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Pondicherry, Puduccheri. During preparation of her thesis on ‘Cancer Patients’ Ramya met numerous patients and got to know about their life experiences, “If you want to know: what is the meaning of ‘Life’ -you must listen to cancer patients, their hardship and strong desire of survival, wanting to live and achieve so much in life———if they can do it, having everything why are we complaining, and for what : I have learnt lots from them, this channelised me to be a positive thinker and turned me into a motivational speaker,” Dr. Ramya narrated.
Dr. Ramya’s inclination towards cosmetic field lead her to be an entrepreneur, she says “I love to look good – I love myself —— as a doctor I wish to serve differently in a manner where without altering your entire personality with a little bit of change in your appearance you can gain more self-confidence, and as a human I want to serve this responsibly,”. Dr. Ramya promotes cruelty-free cosmetics at her venture: ‘Ramicos Cosmetics’. One more dynamic of Dr. Ramya’s personality -her fondness for writing had her exploring the literary universe : after a lot of research on Aztec Mythology Dr. Ramya wrote the book ‘The Broken Pendant’ -a science fiction novel in just six months——the book ‘The Broken Pendant’ was listed as one of the 50 notable books of the year 2020. “My father, ‘a person with tremendous positive attitude’ is my biggest and greatest support, he helped me in bringing out this book——in fact he has encouraged me a lot throughout my career,” she says. In her signing-off message to today’s women Dr. Ramya writes, “Woman, find your own independence—push back those forces which push you down; unfortunately women are considered as weak—but in reality they are the strongest —— every woman is talented -she needs to explore it and see the wonders unfold for herself – her family – and the society at large —— and one more thing: women must pursue their long term goals diligently, but they should never forget their short term goals too.”.
